Motherhood doesn’t mean you have to be unfashionable. Many women are interested in luxury clothing options that allow them to coordinate with their daughters without looking like something out of a bad catalogue shoot. Today’s fashion designers know this. One fashion designer who is helping fashionable mothers dress like their daughters in a subtle way is Abeer Al Otaiba, wife of Yousef Al Otaiba, the United Arab Emirates ambassador to the United States.

SemSem Fashion Line

Abeer Al Otaiba started her fashion line, SemSem, in an effort to provide mothers with clothing that looks great and subtly compliments their daughters’ look. Her line of clothing was toasted at a recent lunch at Bergdorf Goodman’s BG Restaurant. Hosted by actress Blake Lively and famed jeweler Lorraine Schwartz, the luncheon was attended by many celebrities happy to celebrate the creation of clothing that looks great and helps mothers and daughters bond at the same time.

Matching Without Being Literal

As many celebrities noted, the clothing line offers coordinating looks between mothers and daughters without being overly literal. Moms everywhere are happy to have clothing that can be worn in the boardroom and when attending a mom and me event with their daughters. Blake Lively, a new mom to her daughter James, is probably best known for her role in the television series Gossip Girl. Like many new moms, she wants to have fashionable clothing that suggests a tie to her daughter without being over the top about it. She is pleased to note that the new line allows her to do just that as she continues her work in the acting world.

What’s in a Name?

Abeer named her new line of clothing after her own darling daughter, Samia. Samia goes by the nickname SemSem, making the name of the clothing line one that is both personal and apt for the designer. The line was inspired by her desire to have chic womenswear that complimented her daughter, while maintaining age appropriate details for both women and girls. The growth of SemSem is undeniable and she is happy to be sold this season in the prestigious Bergdorf’s children’s’ department in New York City.
